JOHN J. EGAN, JR.

John Egan founded the Egan Law Firm PLLC after practicing with several large regional and national law firms, including Plunkett & Cooney, PC, Wilson Young PLC and LeClair Ryan. He has extensive experience representing clients in general commercial litigation and arbitration, particularly in matters relating to insurance coverage, reinsurance and the financial industry. 

Mr. Egan has counseled insurance carriers and reinsurers on a variety of insurance coverage issues, and has represented Fortune 500 corporations, small businesses and individual policyholders in insurance coverage litigation and various commercial matters throughout the United States. Mr. Egan also represents insurance brokers and agents in disputes with policyholders. His prior insurance industry experience includes positions with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Gerling Global Reinsurance Corporation (U.S. Branch) and Everest Reinsurance Company.

Mr. Egan is admitted to practice in every state and federal court in Michigan, and has been admitted pro hac vice to practice in several other state courts throughout the country. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Bonaventure University and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board of Directors. While in law school, he served as the Clerk to the Honorable Colleen A. O'Brien of the Oakland County Circuit Court. His representative client work includes:

• Represented clients as coverage counsel in numerous matters involving issues such as construction defects, bad faith, class actions, mass torts, environmental, defective products, asbestos, mold, general liability (primary and excess), assault and battery, advertising injury, employers liability and workers compensation policies, errors and omissions and professional liability.
  

• Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a national insurance carrier in a premium fraud case that resulted in a judgment for the carrier in excess of $10 million.
  

• Obtained summary disposition in a personal injury case on behalf of a regional utility provider where its power lines had fallen upon a moving motor vehicle.  
   

• Obtained insurance coverage for a regional utility provider, including costs and attorney fees after claim was denied by its primary and excess carriers.  

• Served as national discovery counsel for a "Big 3" automobile manufacturer in product liability maters.

In addition to his commercial litigation and insurance law practice, Mr. Egan represents select clients in general civil litigation and family law matters.
